How do I FTP using WS_FTP?
| Once you have downloaded ws_ftp and opened it, you will need to fill in
the blanks to connect to our servers. Use the picture below to make your info match.
Remember it is case sensitive. Arrow1-Use the pulldown arrows to choose your profile name to WS_FTP32 Arrow2- Host Name is ftp.gcisnet.net Arrow3- Host type is UNIX Arrow 4-Enter your FTPusername and password. Arrow5- You may choose to save your password if you are the only one FTPing from your computer. Arrow 6- choose the start up tab at the top, and make sure that your initial host directory is /home then click apply and ok. Hit OK and you will log on. |

| Once you are logged on, you will see 2 separate window sides to the
client. The left side is the local system ( your computer)and is noted in our image by the
green star. The right side is the remote system ( the server) and is noted by the RED star. It is VERY important that you do not delete or rename things on the remote side or your site could be erased or un-viewable by the world. Arrow 1-You should always publish your pages under the public_html directory. Arrow 2-Once you have created and saved a webpage in your editor on your system. When you log in to ws_ftp you need to find it on your local system ( the left side) Arrow3-Once you find it, highlight it by click on it 1 time. Arrow 1-Make sure
you are in the public_html directory on the remote side |
